Tim was finally ready to meet someone new. He turned to John Liao and said, "You know who I always thought was super cute? Ange Liu." Little did he know, they were about to meet up with Ange that very night at Kor.
So there we all were. Ange was excited to see her friends from Singapore — Morgan, James, Henry (she didn't know John Liao yet, otherwise she would've been excited to see him too). And for some reason, Henry was determined to get her and Tim together. And for some reason, it started to work. The next thing anyone knew, Ange and Tim were holding hands.
Ange's first "I knew" moment came later that night. The alcohol had run out, Ange was thirsty, and Tim casually said, "It's okay, let me buy you a bottle." Moments later, a brand-new bottle of 1942 appeared, and Tim poured her a glass. Tim has never done this again — and likely never will.
Two clubs and one karaoke session later — and it's now 7:00 a.m. Naturally, they decided to go hiking.
Ange took Tim all the way back to Tian Mu, where she lived. The 30-minute car ride convinced Tim he'd been led out of Taipei and into an entirely different city.
Ange changed into comfy clothes, they grabbed coffee, and up the mountain they went.
The hike took 30 minutes. The conversation lasted four hours. They walked laps along the mountain track, arm in arm, blending in with the grannies and grandpas on their morning stroll.
One night, one hike, and a conversation that never really ended.
Somewhere between a bottle of 1942 and a sunrise hike, something clicked.
What followed was immediate long distance — New York and Singapore, opposite sides of the world. There was no grand plan, just a shared certainty that this was it.
Eventually, the distance closed. They got engaged. Ange moved to Singapore. And the life they'd been talking about since that first morning in the mountains finally became real.
